Privacy Policy

Rose Stanton's privacy policy complies with the Privacy Act 1998 and is based on the ten National Privacy Principles outlined in the Privacy Amendment (private Sector) Act 2000.

The personal information you provide is relevant to your application for insurance and covers as well as the amount of your premiums or the assessment of any risks. In the absence of correct information we may be unable to provide the appropriate level of financial services to you.

 

This Privacy Policy applies to any personal information we collect, use or disclose after 21 December 2001. It does not apply to our employee records.

Collection, use and disclosure of information

We collect and use personal information in order to provide you with financial products and services. The information we may collect includes:

(a)               your name, business address, ABN, home address and contact numbers;

(b)              your date of birth, driving experience, business ownership, occupation;

(c)               information such as renewal dates, current premiums and details of previous claims history; and certain other details are needed to asses premiums and claims.

The information collected will help us to:

(a)               provide quotes for your application for cover

(b)               determine the cost of premiums and fees

(c)               provide an efficient claims management service

(d)               conduct market or customer satisfaction research

(e)               develop, establish and administer alliances

(f)                 provide risk management consulting services and

(g)               ensure our databases are accurate.

By providing us with your personal information you consent to its use for these purposes.

If you provide personal information about another person to us or one of the organisations assisting it, you must have that person’s authorisationto provide their information and you must inform that person of our identify, how we will use and disclose the information and that person’s rights to access that information. The information collected will be provided to organisations that will assist in deciding whether to protect you, the amount of your premiums or to assess a claim. We will ensure that these organisations have appropriate privacy procedures. These organisations include:

·        reinsurers

·        brokers

·        insurance reference bureau providers

·        loss adjusters

·        lawyers

·        accountants

·        claims specialists

·        Rose Stanton, and

·        valuers, real estate agents.

Access and correction

We will take reasonable steps to make sure that the personal information we collect, use or disclose is accurate, complete, and up-to-date. Clients can access their personal information that we hold. There is no charge to do this.

 
Security of personal information

We endeavourto protect any personal information that we hold from misuse and loss, and to protect it from unauthorisedaccess, modification and disclosure.

For example - we maintain physical security over our paper and electronic data stores and premises, such as locks and security systems. We also maintain computer and network security; for example, we use firewalls (security measures for the Internet) and other security systems such as user identifiers and passwords to control access to computer systems.

Transfer of information overseas

We may transfer your personal information overseas where it is necessary to provide our service. For example, we sometimes use the internet to collect and process information. In addition, some insurers or reinsurers are based overseas and we need to provide your personal information to them to arrange your cover. In most cases, we only do this with your consent.

Opting out

If we send you any materials about other services or products that we offer, or you do not want us to disclose your personal information to any other organisation(including related bodies corporate) you can opt out by confirming in writing, email or phone.

If you have any problems or complaints we will respond to your query or complaint as soon as possible and will try to resolve any complaint within 14 working days. If this is not possible, we will contact you within that time to let you know how long we estimate that it will take to resolve your complaint. Any unresolved complaints should be referred to the Privacy Commissioner.
